WATER HARDENESS... WHAT IS IT?
You may have heard many times about the hardness of water, but you may not be very clear about what it is.
The hardness of the water depends on the amount of lime in the water. Hard water has been defined as containing more than 330 mg of lime per liter of water. Semi-hard waters contain between 80 and 330 mg/L, and soft waters contain less than 80 mg/L.
Lime is not the same as calcium, but is the union of calcium and magnesium salts, which are two minerals contained in water. Both calcium and magnesium are necessary and healthy for the human body.
The amount of lime in the water is not bad for your health; drinking hard water or soft water is just as healthy.
Drawbacks hard water
