HOW MUCH WATER DO WE USE IN A SHOWER?

At Waly we believe it is important to be aware of our water consumption in order to be able to use it more responsibly. We want to use the water, not throw it away!

Time for showering:

You turn on the tap before taking off your clothes so that the water gets heated, you entertain yourself, you prepare the towel, you look in the mirror. . . the water is running and it’s been hot for a while!

You get in the shower, you get wet and soap leaving the jet open. You rinse and without stopping the stream you soap again.

In the last rinse you stay under the hot or cool shower thinking about your things or humming some song.

You’ve already spent over 200 liters of water!

In many cases we think that the cost of shower water is lower than it actually is. The truth is that the shower is one of the elements of the house that consumes the most water.

Being aware of what we consume is important for our pocketbook, but also because of the environmental consequences of over-spending water. Water is a scarce commodity and we should value it as a privilege.

How many liters does a normal shower spend?

A shower of about 10 minutes consumes about 200 liters of water.
Every minute you leave the tap on, you spend about 20 liters!

To reduce our consumption, we just need to be a little conscious when showering, turn off the faucet and not extend the shower longer than necessary.

How to reduce water expenditure in the shower:
  1. Before turning on the shower, put a bucket under the tap so you can use the water coming out of the tap while the shower heats up, you can use it to water the plants or flush the toilet.
  2. Turn on the tap just enough time to heat up the water.
  3. Turn off the tap while you soap.
  4. Rinse fast and get out of the shower. A short shower is also relaxing!
You can also:
  • Install an aerator in the shower artichoke. In this way, water is incorporated into the water flow without limiting the flow of the jet and less water is used.
  • Install a thermostatic tap. This way you can set the desired temperature before entering the shower without having to let water out of the tap to heat your shower.
