TRICKS TO REDUCE YOUR WATER FOOTPRINT

At Waly we are aware that water is a scarce commodity, which is why we want to contribute to building a future where water consumption and spending is more conscious and sustainable.
Here are some tips so you can reduce the water footprint of your day to day.

1. Leave the plastic bottles! Paradoxically, the water footprint of a single plastic water bottle is 4 liters of water. You can drink filtered tap water, healthier than bottled water and without the bad taste of tap water. If you want to take the water with you, fill your Waly Bottle, this way you will avoid buying a bottle of water every time you are thirsty: reduce your water footprint and save money.
   
   
2. Calculate and monitor your water consumption. You can save a lot just by being aware. Turn off taps, use saving systems and recycle water for other uses. Follow these tips and you will save water at home!
   
   
3. Monitor the water footprint of the food you eat. You don't have to give up everything you like either, but you can cut back a bit on foods that need more water to produce.
   
   It is also important to reduce food waste, since a lot of water is used to make food that ends up in the garbage.
   In short: buy and consume with awareness.
   
   
4. If you have plants or a garden, use irrigation systems that are efficient and allow you to use just enough water.
   
   
5. Look at the clothing labels. The water footprint in the production of garments varies according to quality, material, place and manufacturing process, etc.
   
   
6. In summer, better beach than pool! If you don't have a beach nearby, keep in mind that the water footprint of public pools is less than that of the sum of private pools.
   
   
7. Consume local and seasonal: This may seem unimportant for the water footprint, but it is not. Growing vegetables out of season or from the other side of the world requires much more water and energy than seasonal and local products, since environmental differences have to be made up with water and energy.
