Conventional water treatment is a physicochemical process consisting of the following steps:
1. Recruitment
Water is collected from rivers and lakes and transported to the water treatment plant by its own stream and groundwater water by water pumps.
2. De-ramping
This first treatment step is used to remove large solids present in the water (large residues, objects, etc. ). It is done by filtering with grilles.
3. Dismissed
It is used to remove sand and other particles from the water. This step is necessary to prevent small particles from damaging the water purification machinery in the next steps.
4. Coagulation and flocculation
Aluminum sulfate is added to the water, it is a substance that coagulates the small particles that are in the water so that they settle and can be removed.
5. Decantation
In this phase, the velocity of the water is slowed so that the solid particles formed in the previous process can settle.
7. Leakage
The water passes through filters with a special sand that retains the smallest, invisible solids that are present in the water.
8. Disinfection
This stage is essential to ensure water non-pollution. The water is disinfected by adding sufficient chlorine needed for disinfection and human consumption.
9. Storage
Water is stored in contact with chlorine, making it safer for drinking.
After almost each of these steps, sampling is done to monitor and evaluate the water status. At the end of the process, the water passes again quality controls and is distributed to households, making it drinkable for human consumption.
